The start is located at the end of the bitumen on the Old Dubbo Road and finishes at the Mitchell Inn in Geurie.
Participants are asked to make their own travel arrangements and there will be light refreshments provided at the completion of the walk.

City vs Country Boxing

Next Saturday night the second installment of the 2009 Top Fight Promotions City versus Country Boxing Series comes to Dubbo with brothers Mitchell and Chris Hodder carrying the flag for Country.
Country will be desperate to level the series at 1-all after City won the first event 2-1 at Gosford on April 4.

Event organiser Chris Hodder was the lone fighter to win his bout in Gosford and is confident the team, which also includes Dubbo’s Ben Martyn, will be able to take the series into a decider to be held at Petersham in September.

Chris said he and his brother had vowed not to leave anything in the ring next Saturday.

“It’s great to see boys travelling down from Sydney after all these years of boys from the bush having to go to Sydney to fight the top-rated fighters,” Hodder said.

“Me and Mitch have got very hard matches and hopefully fighting in our backyard will help us get the edge over those guys.”

The main event will be the heavyweight thunder ‘Collision Course’ with Mitchell Hodder taking on Sydney-based bouncer Tony Inker.

Also on the card will be Dubbo local boys Rob Phair, Dave Pisani, Josh Gibbs, Lewis Richards, Heath Prendergast and crowd favourite Pete ‘The Italian Stallion’ Sallustio.

“Heath Prendergast put up a great performance pushing Chris Hallford to a close decision in his first ever bout and I think he and Pete Sallustio will be able to overcome their opponents zoning from the Albury region,” Chris Hodder predicted.

“Rob Phair and Dave Pisani are also taking on big guns from Sydney while I think Josh Gibbs is one to look out for in the future.

“I am also keen to watch Lewis Richards as I have heard big wraps on him.”

The event will be held on Saturday June 27 in the Dubbo RSL Club auditorium starting at 7.30pm, with both reserved seating and general admission tickets available.

Limited ringside tickets are available for $30 from Fitness Corner in Erskine Street and general tickets for $20 from the RSL.

Facepainting and Circus Workshops 2

Learn all you need to know at ARTstreet – a fun and energetic FREE Facepainting & Circus workshop for youth aged 6-13! ARTstreet will be touring the region during the July school holidays and was developed in partnership between Orana Arts and Circus West. The project is funded through the NSW Building Stronger Communities Dubbo (Dubbo workshops only), the NSW Department of Art, Sport and Recreation and Orana Arts.
The unique ARTstreet program will provide training in Circus Skills and Facepainting over a two-hour workshop session to be held at venues around the region (see below).
Youth Trainers from Circus West Ash Blenkiron and Richard Sullivan will teach students circus skills in poi, diabolo, staff, hoop, and juggling. These guys can teach you great tricks which are easy to learn!
With Orana Arts staff member, Merryn Spencer learn facepainting techniques. Come along to these free fun workshops to learn skills that provide hours of fun and enjoyment!

"A Shorte Hysterical Historie of Musicke" takes music from Gregorian chant up to the present day, and hilariously compares the lifestyles of the great composers with our own contemporary living, by imagining how musical geniuses down the ages would cope with modern society, if they could time-travel. What sort of messages would Mozart have on his voicemail, would Bach, with 20 kids, allow them to use his cell phone? Would Wagner eat junkfood? Amid all this mayhem the musical content is David's most ambitious yet, for instead of playing works by the great masters, all the music is his own, but composed in the styles of those masters. And it sounds authentic - his recreations of Mozart, Debussy and many others, sound as though they are newly discovered "lost" works by those composers - even down to his delightful exercise in "How not to write a country and western song."
